Call for Department of Medicine Executive Committee - Millennial Representative

Term: 2018/2019 Academic Year

Mandate: The Department of Medicine is led by a diverse team of senior leaders, who are recognized for their national and international contributions to academic medicine.

The Executive Committee is comprised of representatives from across the Department, including each of the Vice-Chairs, Physicians-in-Chief, and Division Directors, education program directors and senior administration. The Executive Committee meets monthly (8-9:30 am on the first Tuesday of each month) to review, discuss and make decisions relevant to the vision and mission of the Department and its strategic priorities.

The Millennial Representative(s) is expected to attend and participate in monthly Executive Committee meetings to help ensure that the perspectives, interests and needs of younger faculty members are considered in the department’s activities. The representative(s) is also expected to identify and raise for discussion personal, professional, and environmental/institutional subjects that are of interest and importance to younger faculty members and that relate back to the department, and to engage with the department in increasing the involvement of younger faculty members in department activities and events, such as Annual Day, and in fundraising initiatives. Please note, this is an unpaid position.

Eligibility: As the ‘Millennial’ generational representative, the role is suitable for a full-time clinical faculty member(s) born in 1981 or later.

Interested candidates are asked to provide a brief letter of interest to Dr. Gillian Hawker via DoM.Chair@utoronto.ca by August 14, 2018.
